We made this for Christmas morning breakfast – perfect as it has to be made the night before…
Ham & Cheese Bread Pudding
2 cups milk (I used whole milk)
dash worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper
1/2 loaf thick-sliced, slightly stale bread, torn into pieces
1 med, onion, diced and sauteed
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
3/4 cup ham, cubed (shaved ham works as well)
2 tsp dried parsley
Mix the milk, eggs, worcestershire sauce, tabasco, salt & pepper to taste together. Mix all the rest of the ingredients together in a large bowl, then add the egg mixture and stir well to coat all the bread. Cover and leave overnight in the fridge, then pour into a greased 9″ x 13″ pan. Smooth the top, then bake at 160’C for 30-40 minnutes or until cooked through and browned lightly. Serve hot or warm with a little maple syrup. You can use any cheese you like as long as it’s strongly flavoured and any combo of herbs.
Sorry, I couldn’t get a photo before hubby had dished it up!
